The average patient leaves after 2 or 3 visits. Before their plan is finished. Before they get the result they came for. Fix that, and the empty slots, the last-minute cancellations and the summer dip start to fix themselves.

The problem
They come in for two or three sessions, feel a bit better, and disappear. They never finish the treatment plan. They never get the full result. And you are left staring at gaps in next week's diary, wondering what went wrong.

Which one is you?
Every solo clinic owner I speak to is living one of these. Both come back to the same thing: the patient journey.
The fix: the leak is out the back, not the front. A repeatable patient journey, from first contact to discharge, keeps patients committed because they are genuinely getting better. That is what fills a diary.
The fix: you cannot out-work a ceiling. Get the patient journey out of your head and into a system, then recruit properly and mentor that hire so the clinic delivers great outcomes without you in every room.
If this sounds familiar
I have said every one of those sentences. I ran a clinic that owned me before I built one that did not. Nothing on this site comes from a guru playbook. It comes from fixing this in my own diary first, and then in my team's.
The stories we tell ourselves
Most clinics do not have a marketing problem. They have a leak. New patients come in the front and drop out the back at visit two or three. Fix the journey and the same enquiries fill the diary.
Committed patients keep their appointments in July. Uncommitted ones use the sunshine as the excuse. Seasonality punishes weak retention. It does not cause it.
Patients cancel because they are not bought in. When someone understands their plan and can feel it working, they move the barbecue, not the appointment.
You are almost certainly good enough already. Another certificate will not keep patients past session three. A better patient journey will.
Do the maths on your own clinic
Move the sliders. Same patients, same prices. The only thing that changes is how many people complete their treatment and get the result they came for.

20 patients at £55 per session. A visit average of 3 = £3,300/month. A visit average of 6 = £6,600/month. That is £3,300 extra with zero extra marketing spend.
Real advice from a real clinic owner
I run Functional Movement Physio in Liverpool with a small team, and I still treat patients every week. I have worked as a physio since 2012, across the NHS, Merseyside Police, UK Special Forces and professional sport, before building my own clinic.
For years I watched patients come in, start to improve, then disappear after two or three sessions. I did what most clinic owners do. I bought the courses. I paid the agencies. I worked more hours. None of it worked, because the problem was never the marketing.
The shift came when I stopped chasing new patients and asked a different question. Why are the patients I already have not finishing their treatment?
Our average is now 6 visits per patient. Patients finish their plans, get the outcomes they came for, leave great reviews and refer their friends and family. The business grew as a result, but it started with better patient care.
I am not a business coach. I am a clinic owner who fixed patient retention and watched everything else improve because of it.

How many sessions does your average patient actually complete? Most clinic owners have never looked at this number. It tells you everything.
We will find the exact point in the journey where your patients stop coming back. Usually it is between session one and two. That is where the system breaks.
Every patient who drops out early is a patient who did not get the result they came for. I will show you what completing more plans would mean for your patients and your clinic.
You leave with one clear action. The single change that would keep more patients on track and finishing their treatment plans.
